Choose a display mode for your screen and glasses
Choose a StereoPhotoView display mode to match your screen and glasses. For an ordinary monitor with anaglyph glasses, use the matching color mode. For a passive polarized display, the reference recommends Row Interlaced at the monitor’s native resolution.
Input and result
Input: an open stereo photo or video with a correctly identified source format. Result: a preview in a mode suitable for your equipment. Changing the display is different from converting and saving a file.
Choosing a mode
| Viewing conditions | Documented choice | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary monitor and red/cyan glasses | Red/cyan anaglyph | Glasses must match the color mode |
| Ordinary monitor and yellow/blue glasses | Yellow/blue anaglyph | Use matching glasses |
| Passive polarized monitor or TV | Row Interlaced | Set the display’s native resolution in the operating system |
| Need to show view arrangement | Side by Side or Over/Under | The viewing method must match the arrangement |
Steps
- Install the application and open a stereo file.
- Check “Source Format” first: it describes how the two views are stored in the input file. Choose a display mode after that.
- Choose the display format for your equipment. Viewing controls are available through the “View” menu and the image context menu opened with a right-click.
- For a passive display, check the native resolution in operating system settings. Scaling must preserve the required row structure of the image.
- Inspect the image through the glasses: check proportions, vertical alignment, and comfortable depth. Adjust alignment if needed.
Limitations
A mode selection is not a guarantee of compatibility with every 3D TV or device. The reference describes passive polarization and anaglyph; it does not establish universal support for active shutter glasses or VR headsets. An ordinary display alone does not separate views for each eye without a matching viewing method.
To create a file for another player, convert its layout or create an anaglyph, then inspect the saved result on the target device.
