Save a stereo video freeze frame

StereoPhotoView saves the current stereo video frame through “File” → “Save a freeze frame as…” or the camera button. The image save dialog lets you choose a name and the required stereo format.

Input and result

Input: an open stereo video containing two views. Result: a separate image of the selected frame, such as MPO or JPS (JPEG). The original video remains the source; exporting a freeze frame is different from saving the entire edited video.

Steps

  1. Download the application and open the video with “File” → “Open”.
  2. Check the source format. If metadata does not identify the layout automatically, choose it manually, such as Anamorphic Side by Side for Half-SBS.
  3. Move the pointer over the frame to show the playback panel. Seek to the required moment and pause the video.
  4. Inspect the scene in a suitable display mode. Record the selected time if you need to compare the result with the video.
  5. Choose “File” → “Save a freeze frame as…” or click the Save freeze frame button.
  6. Choose a new filename in a separate results folder. In the image save dialog, choose MPO or JPS/JPEG, layout, and resolution. The first view defaults to left; change “Reverse order” only when needed.
  7. Open the resulting image. Check that it contains the selected moment, has correct proportions, and includes both views in the chosen stereo format.

Limitations

This workflow saves the current frame through the interface. The CLI reference does not describe selecting a time and exporting a single video frame, so this guide does not supply an invented time option. It does not promise extraction without re-encoding or detail beyond the original frame.

For JPEG, choose the layout separately from the extension. The preview display mode does not replace format selection in the save dialog. To obtain an ordinary JPEG of one view, save an MPO and then extract the left or right view.

For depth changes over time, see stereo video timestamps.
